KUSCO-KSEA Scholarships for
Graduate Students in US
Objective
To recognize outstanding graduate students who have excelled in the field of
science and engineering as well as in extracurricular activities, including
community services, and who have demonstrated a potential for becoming leaders
in the scientific community for closer cooperation between the US and Korea.

Scholarship
- Number of recipients: 17 persons
- Scholarship fund: $1,500 each
- Travel expenses (up to $700) to the 2008 US-Korea
Conference (UKC) on Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship in San Diego,
August 14-16, 2008. All scholarship recipients are required to make poster or
oral presentations on their research areas at UKC2008.
Eligibility
- Graduate students in the US with Korean heritage OR
non-ethnic Korean graduate students in the US related to Korea-US science and
technology cooperation
- Major in science, engineering, or related fields
- KSEA membership only for the students with Korean
heritage (Student may apply for KSEA membership at the time of scholarship
application.)
- Previous recipients of a KUSCO-KSEA scholarship are not
eligible.
Application Materials
(ALL material must be submitted
TOGETHER in ONE PACKET(envelope) including the application form.)
- KSEA Scholarship both online application at
http://scholarship.ksea.org/, and Application form (Download MS Word format: Application Form) to be filled out;
- Once you log in to the site with the KSEA member username, the application form
will be available.
- Application will start on 12/15/2007 and end on 2/15/2008.
- An abstract for a poster or oral presentation at UKC2008 (300-500 words in the online
application. Please refer to the UKC webpage, http://UKC.ksea.org/ukc2008/)
- Official transcripts from colleges attended
- Two recommendation letters from the college attending (one letter must be from a current academic advisor)
Evaluation Criteria
- Academic performance - 30%
- Recommendation letters -30%
- Work experience and extracurricular activities - 20%
- UKC Abstract - 20%
Application Deadline
Announcement and Award Presentation
- Notice of the scholarships will be announced on the KSEA webpage (http://www.ksea.org/) by May 15, 2008.
- The certificate and scholarship fund will be presented at UKC2008 in San Diego, on August 15, 2008.
- All recipients are required to make poster or oral presentations on their research areas at UKC2008 (August 14-16, 2008).
